I’m writing to you smack dab in the middle of our shoot for Cam Companion. It’s been such a great experience/whirlwind so far, and we have a long but exciting night ahead of us. We’re getting reacquainted with this whole process as it’s been over a year now since we first shot Winter Guest.
I’m so grateful for the experience, for the camera getting here in time to shoot on Saturday (long story, but there were issues with UPS on Friday – kind of scary, but the rental company we use is amazing – ATS Rentals, if you’re looking). I’m grateful that Chris is such a killer camera man, that my buddy Jacob is working so hard to put in a lovely performance, and that his friend Isaac was able to help out with the boom last night.
We’re a little rusty with the process, but we found our footing, I think.
We watched the “dailies” at midnight, bleary-eyed. From what we can tell, they’re really promising. Something about only seeing the tiny playback on the camera while shooting makes me nervous – it feels like the film lives somewhere in the air. But seeing the footage on the Macbook last night before collapsing into bed was reassuring, sweet, funny, and a little bit exhilarating.
Glad we get to do more tonight. It’s real work, but it’s fun. Gratifying.
Wait! I have to show you this. We were doing a little photo shoot this morning in a park (for our feature poster) and when I got up off the grass, I realized I had been lying on this…FOUR LEAF CLOVER. No joke. In time for St. Patty’s and in time for, well, life these days. :-)
That’s all for now! Gotta work.
